Eaton Posi Differentials

Eaton Posi Differential

The Eaton Posi is the perfect way to control traction in street rods, light duty pickups and everyday drivers.

The Eaton Posi prevents wheel slip before it can get started. To do that, carbon disc clutch packs, preloaded by a central spring assembly, are located behind each differential side gear. When torque input increases the clamping load on the clutch packs increases. That causes the chatter-free clutch packs to grab and transfer power to the other wheel. The Eaton Posi is fully rebuildable with one of our specially formulated clutch kits.

Muscle cars, hot rods and mild offroad vehicles should look to Eaton’s limited-slip differential for their traction answers. And the fact is, Eaton’s Posi units are virtually bulletproof.

Features:

• Carbon Friction Technology

• Precision-Forged Gears

• Automatic

•Rebuildable

Auburn Gear Limited-Slip Differentials

Auburn Gear has been the leader in performance limited-slip differentials for nearly 55 years.

Today, no matter what you drive—dragsters, performance cars, everyday passenger vehicles, light-duty trucks, vans, sport utilities, off-road or recreational vehicles—there is an Auburn Gear performance differential engineered to maximize your vehicle’s tractive capability.

  • Auburn Gear HIGH PERFORMANCE SERIES (HP) Limited-Slip Differentials:

Auburn Gear’s flagship limited-slip differential gives you smooth torque-sensing operation with the correct bias ratios to out perform the competition.

  • Auburn Gear PRO SERIES Limited-Slip Differentials:

Turns your torque up another notch, offering an even higher bias ratio and faster sensing reaction than HP for the very best in controlled power transfer.

  • Auburn Gear RACE SERIES Limited-Slip Differentials:

High Performance limited-slip differential specifically for road racing—a differential case designed to allow the center pin to float along with the axle shafts.
This design feature aids the driver when cornering, so that when the driver is turning, the outside wheel axle shaft will apply a force to the center pin, hence, the pinion gears will firmly seat the inside cone/side gear assembly giving the racer an extremely “tight” rear axle. The greater the G-force the more bite you get! If you are an avid road racer you’ll want this unit.

Auburn Ected Locking Differential

Most Auburn ECTED Max models offer both “limited-slip” and “locker” modes. Some of the newer units switch from “Open” to “Lock”

An on/off switch is mounted near the driver. In the “off” position it operates in limited-slip mode. When the “on” position is selected, the differential operates as a solid axle assembly – the spool/locker performance you desire at the strip or off-road.ECTED Max™ Advantages:

  • ECTED Max gearing is made from aircraft quality, 9310 heat-treated billet steel to make it as tough as nails!
  • ECTED Max can be switched on or off “on the fly,” at any road speed.
  • ECTED Max does not have any shift forks or pins that must be lined up to obtain locker mode.
  • ECTED Max is quiet – say good-bye to noisy lockers!
  • ECTED Max is backed by an industry-leading one-year warranty, just like all Auburn Gear Performance Differentials.
  • ECTED Max is backed by the industry-exclusive program. D-REX = Differential – Replacement EXchange Program.
  • ECTED Max can be used in front axle applications – with or without lockout hubs.
  • ECTED Max is the only selectable locker that offers both limited slip and locker modes. Forget the rest – go with the best!

Important Note: The ECTED Max is not recommended for use in front axles that feature an “Inter-Axle Disconnect.”

Powertrax Lock-Right

Powertrax Lock Right Locker - Automatic Locking Differential

The POWERTRAX LOCK-RIGHT Locker is the original locking differential that could be easily installed in existing case assemblies without any special tools or setup equipment.

The LOCK-RIGHT’s operation is fully automatic. Designed to send the engine power to the wheels with the most traction, the LOCK-RIGHT will help get you where you want to go. While traveling straight, the LOCK-RIGHT will lock the axles together similar to a spool. However, when the wheels need to differentiate in a turn, the LOCK-RIGHT will allow the outside wheel to rotate faster to complete the turn. The internal gears on the LOCK-RIGHT will overrun each other to allow this differentiation.

NOTICE REGARDING FRONT AXLE APPLICATIONS:

The Powertrax Lock-Right Locker works well on the front axle of 4-wheel drive vehicles provided a couple of important guidelines are followed. The Lock-Right Locker should be used only on vehicles equipped with locking hubs on the front axle or with front axle disconnect. In addition, the vehicle must not be equipped with full time 4-wheel drive. Vehicles equipped with a Lock-Right Locker on the front axle should not be operated on the highway with the front hubs locked and 4-wheel drive engaged. Following these guidelines will ensure very acceptable on-road driveability while still providing maximum off-road traction.

ARB Air Lockers

ARB Air Locker - Selectable locking differentials

ARB Air Locker – Air Operated Locking Differentials for 100% Traction!

ARB Air Lockers were created to provide 100% traction on demand, without sacrificing any of your vehicle’s highway driving performance, these locking differentials employ a 12 volt air compressor designed to activate (and deactivate) a solid and durable locking mechanism inside the differential. This gives you the traction you need, when you need it, all at the flick of a switch, all within the safety and comfort of the driver’s seat.

When activated, the Air Locker prevents the differential gears from rotating and therefore prevents the axle shafts from turning independently of each other. With both wheels tied directly to the rotation of the ring gear, the vehicle maintains maximum possible traction at all times. When unlocked, it operates just like conventional “open” differentials.

The experts at West Coast Differentials are well qualified and have many years of experience dealing with ARB Air Lockers. We can help you decide if an Air Locker is right for your application and make sure you get the correct unit for your vehicle. Our large inventory means most applications are IN-STOCK and READY TO SHIP same day!

We also stock ARB Air Locker replacement parts, installation components and ARB Air Compressors.

 DETROIT LOCKER APPLICATION GUIDE:

Detroit Locker FAQ’S

What kind of oil should I use? Can I use synthetic? Do I need friction additive/modifier? A quality petroleum/mineral based oil works best in the Detroit Locker units. We do not recommend synthetic oil. Friction additive/modifier is not required.

Can I use the stock bearings? In most cases the Detroit Lockers work with the factory (stock) bearings. The exceptions are: 10 bolt 8.5\8.6 GM axles, the “Performance” Dana 35 & 44 and GM12 bolt with 35 spline axles. No other “special” setup is required. What kind of break-in is required? The Detroit Lockers do not require any break in.
When does a Detroit Locker lock? The Detroit Locker is locked up 100% in a straight line or if you are spinning. The unit unlocks in a turn for the wheel that is turning the fastest.
When I step on and off the gas pedal, I hear the unit make a “clunking” noise. Why? Because Detroit Lockers have “backlash” or “slack” between the drive and driven teeth and you will hear this in everyday use going through corners and when going from drive mode to coast mode. Also with the vehicle on the ground and the transmission in neutral you will have 1\4 to 1\3rd of a turn of lash in the driveshaft, this is completely normal.
Can I run a Detroit Locker on the street? Many people do use the Detroit Locker during everyday street use. The Detroit Locker is a very aggressive differential, so you will hear it and feel it everyday on the street. Eaton makes many applications for trucks that spend most of their lives on the road. (In the late 60’s, some Ford cars had the Detroit Locker as a factory option.) How much horsepower and torque will the Detroit Locker take? There are many factors to consider when determining if a specific differential will last in your vehicle. Horsepower and torque are important factors. However, the weight of the car, tire height/width, the terrain and suspension are all important things to take into consideration. For example, a setup that uses street tires will live longer because both tires will break loose and spin before any real strain is put on the unit. But as the tire gets wider, the stress on the unit increases because the traction is greater. When in doubt, the best bet is to call us with your specific application and driving conditions. But also keep in mind that the Detroit Locker is the strongest unit sold today and has been for many years.
Can the Detroit Locker be used in the front axles? Yes they can, but you must have lock out hubs and they MUST be unlocked for on- road driving because of steering issues.
Can the Detroit Locker be repaired? Yes they can. Should you need to repair a Detroit Locker parts can be purchased from any of our dealers. Call Eaton Customer Service so we can provide a blow up of the unit that shows all the part numbers and help you find out exactly what part numbers you need to purchase. At that time we can even recommend a company to buy the parts from.
What is the warranty? The Detroit Locker unit is covered for one year from date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. The unit is not covered if the failure of another part (axle shaft or ring & pinion) damages the unit.
